The Company
for dancers aged 7-18
After successful audition, students are invited to take part in a 4-day summer workshop of tuition involving a variety of dance styles as well as rehearsals. The dancers then rehearse for several Sundays, which leads to full staged and costumed performances.
The first half normally has a theme and involves mixed genres including; ballet, modern, contemporary and/or jazz styles. The second half is the main ballet.

The company audition consists of a ballet class and then some short sequences with each of the choreographers. We try to make this a relaxed and fun environment and encouragement is given to the dancers throughout. Results are not given on the day and will be posted or emailed out within a week of the audition. We do offer some places to reserves and will inform them if a place becomes available. We ask the dancers to arrive to auditions with hair tidy and wear appropriate ballet class attire. SYB accepts 50-60 dancers into the company each year.
