Sonya was originally from Kent and began her training at Page & Masons Schools. She then attended The Royal Ballet School where she won the coveted Ursula Moreton Choreographic Award, The Devalois Solo Award, The National Award and The Theatre Cup.

During her career, she has toured and performed in Russia many times and in 1993 she choreographed a dance for children and won the choreographic award for Moscow Regions. She has choreographed for The Kent Youth Ballet works including: Remembrance Day, The Snowman, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and The Beast and pieces for International Easter Course, The Cecchetti Summer School, London Palladium, Portugal Escola De Danca, the Mabel Ryan Awards.

Sonya has choreographed the main ballets for Surrey Youth Ballet’s fourteen previous seasons, which included; Cinderella, Giselle, The Lion the Witch and The Wardrobe, A Little Princess, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Swan Lake, Midsummers, Alice, The Sleeping Princess and Dorothy 2020.
